Manchester: And Then There Was.
Some people on my course and I decided to go to an exhibition in Manchester and, although it took us a while to find it and figure out which building we were supposed to go into, it ended up being a lot better than I expected. The images that I saw were not particularly relevant to my FMP, but it was interesting to see nonetheless.
Here is an overview of the exhibition that we saw:

I am much more of a portrait-based photographer and, as can be seen in the image above, the images that we saw were from documentary photographers. Although this is not an area of photography that I create much myself, I find it very interesting and really enjoyed seeing the exhibit.

As well as prints on the wall, there was also a zine comprised of images that could be purchased. The zine included a variety of different images from each photographer that could be moved around and placed in any order, or could be pulled out and placed elsewhere - on a wall as a poster for example. I thought this was a really good idea and really included the audience in the work that has been created.
These are the images that comprise the book.
This is my favourite image within the book. I love the contrast between the bright colours of the flowers and the monotone tonality in the background of the buildings. The contrast of the natural life and the modern, built life is also something that I think works really well in this image as it captures the essence of British life really well - how there is a natural world that you cannot escape from, but also how there is construction constantly happening which seems to be trying to cover up the natural world.
