Eleventh shoot back at university.
In this shoot, I decided to do a variety of different things to really make the most out of the time I had and to experiment with different shapes. For this, I used 2 different pieces of card and cut different shapes: I cut a triangular shape out of the blue piece of card, and cut out a circle in the yellow card which I did to relate to the mirror that I had used in most of my shoots.

My images:
In my last shoot, I straight away knew that the lighting on the card was something that I wanted to correct because there was a clear gradient that I had created within the way I had used the lights. This has definitely improved within this shoot because the colour is a lot more even on the card, however I think for my next shoot I would want the card to be a much brighter colour than I have achieved here; I think the colours that I have achieved still look good but they could look slightly better - it's not something that absolutely needs changing as it doesn't look bad, it's just a personal preference. I am overall really happy with how much I have developed my images from the previous shoot as the lighting is a lot more even on the card and therefore I think those images are more effective. I thought that it would be a lot different working with a man as I had only worked with women in this project up until this point, but taking the pictures was the same and he took direction really well. Also, I don't think it would matter who I used within my project (for example if it was mostly women and a few men) because the project is not focused on the people within the images.
The images that I have been creating using different shapes really remind of the work of Rankin, as I am focusing on parts of the model's face by carefully cutting out the card to reveal the subject. I really like the shapes that he uses, but think this would make my project too much about beauty and fashion which is not a road I particularly want my project to go dow. This is because the shapes are very eccentric and beautiful, and I think simple shapes work better for my project as to not distract from the subject itself.
This work by Giangiacomo Feriozzi entitled "Forma Mentis" is clearly focused more on beauty photography and the ways in which these models look because of the dramatic makeup that has been used. Using the multiple shapes within one image really adds to the dramatic effect as it shows a lot more of the models face, and it allows for multiple parts of the face to be shown in a really interesting way. I love how these images look and think it is a possibility for a future shoot, but feel it may end up looking too much like a beauty shoot dependant on how I do it - I feel like, as long as I keep it natural with the makeup, this style should work for my project. I won't know unless I try it.
