Paper types research: update.

As I had ordered a print from Print Space on a metallic paper, I thought it would make sense to try out my other ideas for paper types to then get more of an idea of which papers work best and then be able to go from there. The order from Print Space only took about 2 or 3 days to arrive which I thought was really good service, and this is what I received:

I am really happy with this print because I think the metallic aspect of it is really subtle but is definitely visible - the image is also really good quality so this company is one I know is trustworthy - next I need to speak to Richard or Liam about whether or not they think the print works or not and then go from there.

I also got an image printed straight onto 3mm mountboard - this was not something I intended to do but Conor wanted to do a test print and didn't want to pay the full price, so we halved the cost. I was  interested to see what my print looked like on this paper type, and I have included an image of it below:

I think I am going to get this image printed onto tracing paper and acetate too, just so I have a variety of paper types with the same image on so I can see the difference. I think these paper types may work really well because of the fact you can see through the papers rather than them being opaque, which works effectively for my project.

Today I went to the print room and got the same picture printed onto acetate and tracing paper, so that I could see the difference between the paper types as it would be difficult to see this if I used a different image.

I decided to test out these 2 paper types to reflect the meaning of my project and it's title, Translucency, and I am actually really impressed with how well these images came out. I expected the pink colour of the background to go extremely see through and it turned out better than I thought. I feel like there is a loss in quality of the image though when using these paper types as you can see through the image and it is slightly distracting. I am going to ask Liam and Richard what they think about these paper types as well as the previous 2 and then decide from there. My next step after deciding on whether these paper types work or not is to narrow down which images I want to use for my final exhibition so that I can then experiment with my layout.
